Driver sentenced in hit-and-run death of student Miriam Frankl

Defendant Thomas Meighan pleaded guilty last week to multiple felony charges in the fatal hit-and-run case involving Johns Hopkins student Miriam Frankl.

Frankl, a 20-year-old junior in the School of Arts and Sciences, was struck by a truck driven by Meighan in the service drive of the 3300 block of St. Paul Street on Oct. 16, 2009. She died the following day.

On Wednesday, Meighan was sentenced to 13 years in prison for Frankl’s death. In an unrelated hit-and-run traffic accident in July 2009, to which he had also pleaded guilty, Meighan was sentenced to a nine-year suspended sentence and five years of probation.
