Lighting of the Quads

Members of the Johns Hopkins community gathered outside the Milton S. Eisenhower Library on a cool, clear November night for the Lighting of the Quads, an annual tradition that kicks off the holiday season at Homewood. The Nov. 30 ceremony included holiday musical performances by the Pep Band, the Sirens and the AllNighters before President Ronald J. Daniels concluded the festivities by flipping a switch to light up Keyser Quad.

“This is a tradition that’s meant to lift our sights, if only for a few moments—we know you have more work to do—and remind us of the lightness and optimism of this time of year,” Daniels said. “As we flip the switch, we celebrate this community and the illuminated wonder of this place.”

The event, now in its seventh year, was co-sponsored by the Student Government Association, the Hopkins Organization for Programming and the Office of the Dean of Student Life.
