Historic multiple kidney swap ops featured on ‘Dr. Oz Show’

Robert A. Montgomery, director of the Johns Hopkins Comprehensive Transplant Center, and 11 Johns Hopkins patients who were part of the first eight-way, multihospital, domino kidney transplant this summer, were featured last week on the new Dr. Oz Show.

The segment, which aired Sept. 24, was recorded in New York earlier in the month.

“I think this was an excellent venue to increase awareness for kidney paired donation and the alarming fact that we are in a midst of a crisis in organ transplantation in this country,” Montgomery said. “I hope the segment will answer viewers’ questions about kidney donation and possibly encourage them to help those in need by being donors.”
