JHU student takes top spot in nationwide ‘green’ challenge

Raychel Santo, a sophomore double majoring in public health studies and global environmental change and sustainability, has won the national Project Green Challenge competition, a 30-day lifestyle initiative run by Teens Turning Green, a student-led initiative. She competed for the award in San Franciso with 12 other finalists, who included the Johns Hopkins sister team Nicole and Hannah Jiam.

Santo is the founding president of Real Food Hopkins and recently worked with the university’s Office of Facilities Management to create a community garden on the Johns Hopkins at Eastern campus.
